Inside the Workplace:
From Construction to Workplace Innovation: How Andrew Moscardelli Built a Career in Facilities & Workplace Experience
✍️ Written by Amber Alston 🕚 7-Minute Read

When you think about career paths, going from construction management to overseeing workplace operations for a major sports betting company might not be the most obvious route. But for Andrew Moscardelli, that unexpected journey is exactly what led him to his role as Senior Director of Workplace & Facilities at DraftKings—where he’s leading the charge on how employees experience the office.
Much like a construction project, his story is ripe with adaptability, problem-solving, and an eye for efficiency. And as workplace expectations continue to evolve, his experience sheds light on how companies can better support employees through thoughtful space design, seamless amenities, and partnerships that enhance the office experience.
From Building DraftKings HQ to Leading Workplace Strategy
Andrew’s career began in construction, where he spent a decade working as a general contractor in Boston. Ironically, one of the projects he worked on was building DraftKings’ headquarters—but at the time, he never imagined he’d one day be responsible for managing the very space he helped construct.
After making connections during the build, Andrew was offered an opportunity to oversee DraftKings’ facilities operations. With his background in construction and knack for understanding people, he felt confident stepping into the role. Just six months later, he was tapped to take on workplace experience as well, expanding his impact beyond just physical space to include employee engagement, office culture, and workplace operations.
His role quickly evolved from maintaining office spaces to actively shaping how employees interact with them—a shift that became especially critical during the transition back to in-person work.
The Challenge: Creating a Consistent Workplace Experience Across Locations
When Andrew stepped into his workplace leadership role, he noticed an immediate challenge: DraftKings had no centralized system for food and beverage management.
“All of our offices had individual vendors for food, beverages, and coffee. I knew there had to be a more efficient way—one that would create consistency while making operations smoother for our team.”
Managing 12 to 15 different vendors across offices wasn’t just a logistical nightmare—it also led to inconsistent employee experiences. Employees in different locations weren’t receiving the same perks, amenities, or level of service, which was something Andrew wanted to fix.
This is where Crafty entered the picture. Instead of juggling multiple suppliers, DraftKings partnered with Crafty to consolidate its workplace food and beverage program, creating a streamlined, nationally consistent experience for employees while gaining deeper insights into how resources were being used.
Why Crafty? The Tech-Driven Solution for Workplace F&B
Andrew and his team didn’t just want a food and beverage provider—they needed a partner that could adapt to the ever-changing needs of a hybrid workforce. After evaluating several companies, Crafty stood out for three key reasons:
1️⃣ Data & Insights: Crafty’s platform provided detailed analytics on product usage, allowing DraftKings to adjust offerings in real time.
2️⃣ Operational Efficiency: Consolidating vendors under one provider eliminated the hassle of managing dozens of separate suppliers.
3️⃣ Scalability & Flexibility: With hybrid work reshaping office attendance, Crafty allowed DraftKings to scale their food & beverage offerings based on real-time demand.
“With Crafty, we have the ability to track what’s working, see how often products are being reordered, and adapt quickly,” adds Andrew. “That flexibility is crucial in a post-COVID workplace.”
Beyond the logistics, Andrew also recognized that small details—like having coffee and snacks readily available—could make a major difference in employee experience.
“People are making the effort to commute in,” he continues. “They shouldn’t have to fend for themselves once they get here. The more we can make their experience seamless, the more likely they are to feel engaged and connected.”
Rethinking Workplace Experience in a Hybrid Era
The pandemic changed everything about the way people interact with office spaces. DraftKings, like many companies, had to rethink how to make the workplace feel valuable in a world where employees aren’t in five days a week.
Andrew’s team focused on three major priorities:
✅ Make every day feel like the right day to come in. Employees shouldn’t feel like they picked the wrong day to commute—offices need to be stocked, set up, and welcoming every day.
✅ Prioritize ease and efficiency. Coming into the office should feel effortless—from getting coffee to grabbing lunch, everything should be friction-free.
✅ Create spaces that foster connection. The workplace is more than just a desk—it’s a hub for collaboration, socialization, and engagement.
One of the biggest takeaways? Employees value workplaces that support their needs. When employees don’t have to think about whether there’s coffee available or where to find a snack, they can focus on their work—and that’s a win for everyone.
Looking Ahead: The Future of Workplace Experience
Since DraftKings partnered with Crafty, Andrew’s team has seen positive feedback, improved efficiency, and a more engaged workforce. And as workplace trends continue to shift, he sees an even bigger role for data, technology, and flexibility in shaping the office of the future.
“Data is a key driver in showing the effectiveness of workplace programs,” he expresses.”It helps us make smarter decisions, retain talent, and improve the employee experience.”
His advice to companies navigating the changing workplace landscape? Invest in tools and partnerships that make workspaces frictionless, engaging, and worth the commute.
For Andrew, what started as a career in construction led to a leadership role shaping the future of workplace experience. And as DraftKings continues to evolve, his focus remains the same: creating spaces where employees feel supported, valued, and connected.
